Team Updates

3/2 - Congratulations to our team members who were honored at the Winter Sports Recognition Night! The Falcon Award winner for the boys team is Anthony Ha, and for the girls team is Anna Lackner! Congratulations to seven of our swimmers who earned The Academic All State Award: Gabriella Borrello, Emma Dinh, Luis Esparza, Lauren Lacson, Genevieve Manning, Mia Natoli & Andrew Pye.


2/6 – The Frassati Catholic Girls Swim team took 2nd place in the TAPPS Division II State Championships, the highest team placement yet for the emerging swim powerhouse! Frassati Catholic swimmers brought home twelve medals overall at the event, including four golds, six silver, and two bronze to cap off an incredibly successful day at the Josh Davis Natatorium in San Antonio, TX. Frassati Catholic swim coach Stephen Schmidt described the atmosphere of the championships, “the energy was incredible. Our athletes were pumped, and we knew this was what we’ve been working toward all season.” Things got off to a strong start as the Girls 200 Medley featuring Anna Lackner ’22, Lauren Lacson ’20, Mia Natoli ’21, and Genevieve Manning ’20, took silver. That performance was quickly followed by Lauren Lacson taking bronze in the 200 IM. Genevieve Manning took silver in the 50 Free and Kevin Spartz ’21 of the Boys team finished bronze in the 100 Free. In the highpoint of the day, Emma Dihn ’20, Anna Lackner, Lauren Lacson, and Genevieve Manning won gold in the Girls 200 Free Relay. The final medal of the day was taken by Lauren Lacson, who got silver in the 100 Breaststroke. “The success at State was something we’ve been working toward for years,” said Coach Schmidt. “This group of seniors have gotten better every year, and they’ve helped build up the younger swimmers in a way that has develop depth for the team. We had more than five swimmers score 20 or more points during the championships, and that doesn’t happen without depth.” On the impact of this team to the Frassati Catholic swim program, Coach Schmidt commented, “We’ve had some amazing leaders and we were able to build a team around them. The seniors have definitely left a legacy of success for the underclassmen to follow. Taking second place is their achievement and their legacy, and now it’s up to the younger swimmers to carry on that success.”

Frassati Catholic Swim Team Wins Second Straight Regional Championship

1/29 - Our swim team enjoyed being honored at the Winter Sports Pep Rally!


On 1/18, the Frassati Swim Team swam in the Houston Regional Meet, and the girls team defended its championship title, to again claim the 1st place spot in division II! The first place medley relay team featured Anna Lackner, Lauren Lacson, Mia Natoli, and Genevieve Manning. The girls 200 free relay team, featuring Emma Dinh, Anna Lackner, Lauren Lacson, and Genevieve Manning, also won 1st place! The boys 200 free relay won 2nd place, with Andrew Pye, Luis Esparza, John Okruhlik, and Kevin Spartz. The girls 400 relay featuring Mia Natoli, Gabriella Borello, Natalia Kacprzak, and Emma Dinh also placed 2nd!

Mia Natoli placed 2nd in the 200 Free and 4th in the 100 fly
Anna Lackner placed 2nd in the 200 IM and 100 free
Genevieve Manning placed first in the 50 free and 3rd in the 100 free

On 1/11,  the swim team participated in its last regular meet of the year - The Tomball New Year Invitational. Frassati swimmers tuned up for a championship season with great results. Veronica Flynn, Jaclyn Garza, Anthony Ha, Lauren Lacson, Nicolas Martinez, Kyle Okruhlik, John Okruhlik, Lauren Sharpless and Kevin Spartz all achieved best times! On 1/18 the swim team will head to the University of Houston to compete in the Houston Regional, and the girls team will defend its Houston championship title. Let’s go Falcons!

Frassati swimming got a taste of division competition on 12/7 at the Tomball Big Cat Invitational. The following swimmers achieved best times: Ainslee Chun, Marius Sanford, Luis Esparza, Sophie Blakesley, Natalia Kacprzak, Mia Natoli , Anna Lackner, Jaclyn Garza, Kyle Okruhlik, Nicholas Martinez, Anthony Ha, Lauren Sharpless, Denise Simon, Andrew Pye, Monica Mimun, Elizabeth Schramm & Kevin Spartz. 
Standout Performances:
Kevin Spartz finished 3rd in the 100 free and 100 back 
Genevieve Manning placed 3rd in the 100 free
Anna Lackner placed 3rd in the 500 free
Mia Natoli placed 5th in the 200 free

On 11/9 the Frassati swim team competed in the Polar Bear Invitational. The girls team tied for 2nd overall out of 14 teams. The relay featuring Genevieve Manning, Lauren Lacson, Mia Natoli and Emma Dinh placed 2nd in the medley relay and 1st in the free relay.

Lauren Lacson finished first overall in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke
Emma Dinh placed first overall in the 50 free and 5th in the 100 free
Kevin Spartz finished 5th in the 50 free and 4th in the 100 breastroke
Genevieve Manning placed 5th overall in the 50 free

Frassati Swimming had the first meet of the season on Saturday, 10/26, at the Tomball ISD Invitational.
The following swimmers achieved best times: Sophie Blakesley, Ainslie Chun, Veronica Flynn, Mallory Hoskins, Avery Justado, Anna Lackner, Nicholas Martinez, Natalie McKeig, Elizabeth Schramm, Denise Simon & Kevin Spartz.
